Flame Off Assignment: Is the NFL fixed? A look back at the last 10 Superbowl's

For the flame off assignment, I joined a debate with a pair of youtube fiends who I later realized had much more riding on these youtube comments than i did. They REALLY cared about these sports conspiracy theories.

Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjoMk9f8BtE

After viewing this video, even the man who least believes in sports conspiracy theories may question himself. This video is odd to say the least. It reviews our last ten Superbowls and how some of the most interesting, and 'commercially convenient' outcomes have happened. I am not one who believes the entire sport is fixed, I only question the motives of some referees and how they need to become more transparent in their respective games. Femi Daniel and Ted Nugent (Not to be mistaken with the American Rocker, although i would do anything to have the opportunity to have a debate over the internet with him. Ha ha.) were just getting a little chippy before i decided to jump in. After i posted my initial comment, Ted jumped in pretending to be Mr. Know It All. After i ignored a few comments to see where they were going with this, we finally arrived at NFL vs. WWE. These two forms of entertainment are completely different from eachother, but it proves a good point. Femi mentions that football players take home real injuries, that they have to live with for the rest of their lives, while WWE is the perfect entertainment venue in which those participating are at a lower risk of being severely injured.

Like, if the Broncos win the SB this year, is it because of John Fox's Health and the team rallying around that, or just because they are a great team? The great opportunity the NFL has, is that they could say that it was john fox's illness that helped them win the SB, when it was really because they are an amazing team. You are just another guy who is thinking to much about the conspiring of organizations and completely ignoring the educational and inspiring part of what organizations like Football can bring.

Ted (Responding)
educational and inspiring to be BILLION dollar entertainment industries? Because that's all the NFL is, as proven in federal court on numerous occasions. The league doesn't give a shit about you, or whoever your "favorite team" is. They are in the business to maximize their profits within the realms of legallity, and have been doing so for a very long time. There's no conspiracy about entertainment venues making money.

+Femi Daniel +Ted Nugent Studies show in professional sports like football and basketball there is a trend that shows change in the outcome of games based on the point spread prior to the game. Theres no way around the fact that many games are somewhat biased, and theres very little people can do about it. \

Ted
+Joey king I know that. Professional "sports" are not sports. They are entertainment venues run by billionaire bussinesmen who rape every single penny out of the 'fans' (viewers/consumers) at all costs. There's entirely too much money involved for these professional leagues to simply allow the "best man/team/player win/lose" without any manipulation. It's been going on for decades

I appreciate your comment. Maybe i was a little closed minded, but i wouldnt go on the lines as comparing NFL to WWE, these players take injuries that can ruin their lives which it is more obvious that everything WWE does is almost fake.

Joey
+Femi Daniel While both are entertainment venues i agree that the two cant really be compared. These are two completely different forms of entertainment  we are talking about here ted. One where athletes are souped up on drugs making fake hits, while the NFL contains the cream of the crop for athletes, these guys are the real deal making punishing hits on the field.

Femi
You really don't know how sport operates, neither do I, but dont try and ruin the sports experience for everyone with these conspiring theories. But I respect your thoughts.

Joey
+Femi Daniel +Ted Nugent These are just youtube comments therefore i doubt he is ruining it for too many people and those who watch these videos are basically asking for someone to sway their views. Haha. Ted makes a good point but until we know any better Femi is probably right. None of us know everything behind the direction sports is heading. We can only continue to watch these teams who go through a stressful problem or a lineup of star studded athletes continue to win to bring the sport money.

Yeah, they really want to rig my "big market" Steelers in there! Let me guess, we come back and win every game including the s.b. and then auction off troys "comeback" hair for millions, right?! Idiot

Joey
+bmberkheimer Hahahahaha. The steelers have some of the richest history in the NFL with steeler fans across the country! How could you bash your steelers like that when they are one of the most recognized teams in the entire league! Not to mention that over the last decade they have had some of the best players too.

Don't forget, if they really wanted to make it a feel good story after 9/11 they would have had a new york team win, not new england just because their mascot is a patriot, that makes no sense.

Lebron James:
Because 9/11 was a hoax.

Joey
+Lebron James Please tell me you didnt just say 911 was a hoax. Have you lost your mind sir?
