A Modest Proposal

With the threat of global communist domination non-existent and the cold war ending over twenty years ago, there arises a need for even stricter economic sanctions on Cuba and its extremely successful social experiment known as communism. While the average Cuban monthly income is at $19 and most survive on government subsidized foods, the Cuban government and its communist ideals are still a threat due to its proximity to the United States. What if the 1.3 million Cubans in Miami decided to create a communist movement and overthrow democracy? Communism clearly works, just take a look, it’s only 90 miles away. Look at the economically thriving and content population living there. While I lived there from July 2012 to July 2013 stationed as a Marine Security Guard at the Embassy of Switzerland United States Interest Section, I saw firsthand the success of communism in that country. Who actually wants to go to the store and see it stocked with eggs or milk? I certainly did not, I loathe milk. I really enjoyed how when it rained the phone lines would go down at our house and the esthetically pleasing crumbling architecture. That being said, I propose stricter sanctions to cripple this social, economic, and completely fair system of government and shut down this shining beacon of communism so close to our shores.
The current sanctions are clearly not enough to cripple this stubborn bastion of communism.
